In the question it’s says that the women get infected in China and the virus is an epidemic in China. As i know the the epidemic occur due to lack of proof reading of the RNA polymerase and subsequent mutations and the shift due to reassortment.

My question is that is reassortment can cause both the Epidemic and Pandemic because I learned the shift is pandemic and drift is Epidemic.
