Passed the Nclex... 9 years later!!!
Hi guys! Just wanted to let you know that it is never too late to pursue your dreams and reach those goals!
I graduated from OHSU Nursing School in 2007. I took the Nclex exam for a total of 6 times. My last exam was taken in 2010 and I told myself that I would never take it again. N E V E R!
Well.... ... ... after 9 years I decided to give it a shot again. Working part time as a CNA and HUC was fun, life was comfortable, but I needed a change, something more challenging... something new. And I thought to myself... why not put this BSN degree to use dammit!
Since I couldn't register to take the Nclex through Oregon state anymore, (OSBN gives you 3 years from your graduation date to complete the Nclex), I went through Washington state instead. Just because one state doesn't allow it, doesn't mean that every state has the same guidelines. So I purchased the UWorld prep course mid-December of 2018 and studied my buns off, almost every day, until the day of the exam. I took my Nclex on February 27th, 2019 in Portland and passed with 75 questions!
I couldn't believe it! I really thought that I had failed it again. But I did not! I completed the entire QBank and retook all of the incorrect questions. I read all rationales for every right and wrong answer. I took questions over and over again. I work five days a week and I am full time mom to three beautiful kiddos so I studied whenever I had time and where ever. I managed to conquer this exam that has been carrying so much weight on my shoulders for years! Yes, I had many sleepless nights and early mornings, but i made studying my priority. I was hungry for those "RN" initials and this time I persisted!!!! I wasn't giving up!
So believe in yourself, study study study and go in and conquer! Take one day at a time, eat a balanced diet, drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep the day before... if you can. I could not. I studied the whole way to the testing center until I was told to shut off my phone. :-)
Best of luck to all your smart RNs! I believe in you!!!! God Bless you all!

Brilliant well done in the same boat took it three times gave up now looking forward to focus and move on
I am on the exact same situation. I graduated in 2014 at UP. I took the exams many times with OSBN but failed every single time. I felt so distracted when I studied. Always thinking about paying the bills, debts, wedding ... well basically any excuses I could made thorough out these years. I am taking with Washington state for the third time tomorrow. I am very anxious. This is the time I prepared the most. I also work full time. I study after work and on the weekends. I am so afraid to find out I fail again tomorrow. Everyone has so much hope on me. I am so nervous I felt nauseous.
My average practice score is 68th percentile.
1st assessment is 59th percentile.
2nd assessment is 96th percentile.
I just wanted to say congratulation. You made me feel so much better after reading your post. Thank you!

Wow congratulations!!! This literally give me hope.. I’m going on my 5th year since I graduated in 2014. And this test has made me feel like I’m incapable so I’ve been working as an LPN instead for 2 years. I want to try again this summer when I come back from vacation.. but I am hesitant. Did you only use UWORLD? What about a tutor?
