Passed 75 Qs, Read For Motivation
Hello everyone,
I'm writing this only to give a background of my story and to give any motivation necessary for others. I just passed the Nclex with 75 Qs and I did it in 2 hrs. I will say, the only reason I passed was because of Uworld. I graduated in 2013 and went to a really ****ty school which I didn't learn a thing about nursing and after I graduated I just continued working my regular old job. Finally 4 months ago I decided let me try to get my RN Lic and work as a RN to change my professional life. So, as you can imagine I was very intimidated because I had 0% background and knowledge of nursing.
I started with Uwrold questions and I'm here to tell you that they are extremely difficult and the questions made my head hurt because of the difficulty. So when I started I could only handle 25-30 Qs a day and because I didn't know anything about nursing I would get all the Qs wrong but the most important thing I did was read, understand and make notes about the rationales. This is the key, the rationales. Eventually after about 1-2 months of on and off studying everyday about 25-40 qs I felt a little better because I was understanding what I was reading.
To make a long story short, the difficulty of Nclex is a 5-6 and Uworld is a 10. So i found the Nclex to be easy and if you study with Uworld and you understand the rationales of Uworld, you can almost guarantee yourself that you will pass. I did the Qs bank 2x, the first time I was just doing it to learn the rationales so I didn't count my scores because it didn't matter because like I said I didn't know anything. The second time doing the bank, my scores for 75 Qs test were like 73-83% but this doesn't really matter because again the most important thing is understanding the rationales. After finishing the bank for the second time I took the first assessment with a score of 64% which is a very high passing rate in Uworld put me at 77th percentile. I decided I'm gonna take the chance and take the test. So i picked a date 2 days after I did the assessment, it was a very random decision because I was just tired of studying. I went in started the test and I felt the test was very easy, like I said with a difficulty of 5-6 compared to Uworld questions which are 10. My test finished at 75Qs. Also i felt like I knew 10x more information than what was asked of me on the test. I had studied so in depth that the Nclex felt like it was just touching the surface of my knowledge of depth. I can say that 70% of the information I had studied and knew wasn't even asked about on the actual exam but you never know what will be asked of you, so Uworld does an amazing job preparing you for the worst case scenario. On the exam only 1 medication, 15-20 SATA, no order Qs, no EKGs, No milestones, the rest easy and simple. I never felt 100% about almost any of the SATA Qs but I guess that is normal.
Listen to me, from someone who knew 0 starting Uworld, just do the Qs and read and understand the rationals. EASY BREEZY, I owe my sucess to Uworld. Thanks
Quite an amazing story! Congratulations to you!!!

awwww thank you
I was looking for a motivation like this one. I am in almost the same position without knowing much. I was frustrate because I see people do 75 plus Qs a day and 20 questions can take me up to 3 hours because the lack of content.
Thank you so much for sharing. Ill keep doing Qs like you said and writhe down rationales.
I have two 3 months to study.
Thank you

))
I'm glad it motivated you. Also a few points I like to share with you.
It took me almost 3-4 hrs just to do 30 Qs and it was very frustrating and hard d draining mentally, so I get it. After about 1.5 months I started doing more Qs like 60-75. The thing is that once you start learning the material which you learn from the rationale to will start to see the same topics but in different ways of asking you a out the topic, so things will start to speed up.
Also don't waste to much time rewriting the rationale. What I did was make a section in my notebook, for example a out labor/delivery and under this section if I felt the info was necessary to remember, not understand but remember because it was a fact i would write it down. For example Lochia rubra, serosa and alba. This was a fact I needed to remember based on the days and the color content. I did this for every topic.
Once you start to deduce the questions for the 2nd time, you will see these notes very valuable a d this will be your final review of notes 2-3 days before your exam.
Hope this helped, good luck and remember if I did you can do it, believe me when I tell you I didn't know anythihg.

aw thank you for the point. it makes sense to write down facts instead all the rationales.
very very good point. Im going to start doing that.
Congratulations and the best wishes in your new journey
one more question did you study with any other material or just Uwrold?
100% Uworld. I was givin a bunch of other materials but I ignored all of them because I felt overmatched just with the material of Uworld, so I knew more information was just going to confuse and put me out of focus that I had with Uworld. I though of it as my only priority, just focusing on Uworld. I figured if I give it my all to Uworld and I didn't have success, than I would consider other routes. When I sat for the nclex, it was the same exact feeling, screen typed of questions like Uworld. Trust me when I tell you, if you do Uworld and undertake the rationales, you will be 100% in perfect condition to kill the nclex.
