i wrote my exam on dec 17th and still haven't received results
I would expect marks to come in within 3-4 weeks (tho on the piece of paper you get after the exam says 3-8 weeks).
But there is a difference from what i gathered on the internet... it says that marks are usually are givin out every wednesday of each week for the step 1 scores.. Now here is the twist which i dont even know how true it is... It says that if someone writes the exam on the monday-tuesday dates.. they are skipped from that weeks wednesday and there first wednesday would be next weeks...
If you wrote your exam on say wednesday-thursday-friday.. your first wednesday would be the coming wednesday..
Now when i mean 3-4 weeks.. i mean 3-4 wednesdays after the exam your marks should come on.
My question is that... due to holiday seasons.. would step 1 marks be delayed??

I don't think they will be delayed due to holidays but I was thinking that too.
Yeah probably 3 weeks cuz that's when most people get their results. The wait is killing me. Lol. Meanwhile, let's try to engage in some other non-usmle-related activity.

gave my exam on the 17 th of dec 2010 tooo and waiting for the results. i think the results will be sent in between 7th and 10 th jan 2010.
The main thing i am atensend about is that the blocks were relatively easy and i got a lot many one line questions , simple straight forward questions and although there were big paragraph question { relatively less} the exam seemed a lot easier than the UWorld. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the results but have made a lot many silly bllunders.
I have heard that the usmle is a computer adaptive test.......that means if we make a mistake then the next question is a bit easier than the previous one and if we get a question correct then the next one is a bit tougher . ADAPTIVE TEST.
I got a lot of silly and simple one or two line questions { about 60 - 70 %} does this mean i made a lot of blunders/ mistakes. ????
i really donot beleive in this type of logic. becoz i donot go in an order to solve the quetsions .....i go about jumbling up while answering . 1 , 40 , 3 , 2 , 46 , 15 .....etc.

I don't think this is true. All the questions in the usmle are random.
About the stupid blunders, everyone makes them even myself (a couple of which I remember). All the best for ur results! I'm still waiting.
Hi all,
I gave my step 1 on Dec 17th too, and i'm expecting to receive our scores on Jan 5th, the 3rd Wednesday after the exam.
Though there were many holidays in between, i expect our scores to be released on 5th, as i think only the scores for week in which holidays r present will be delayed to next week.
Gear up people, as i think we have only about 24 hrs left for our scores to be reported, as they r releasing scores early in the morning after 12:00 AM tomorrow Philadelphia time.

haha i will admit, some of the question on the usmle are painfully easy... But i honestly came out of that exam thinking i failed.... but now i just dont know haha. Some questions on that exam are evil, i had alot of 4-6 liner questions.. some questions i had 2 scroll down 2 see the answers haha...
I started to notice the easy questions after 2nd block... I dont think the usmle is an adaptive exam... but i remember when i saw the usmle q's that were easy.. i was like.. great, im failing just great hahaha. lets hope not! *knock on wood*
I wasn't able to sleep @ all before my exam.. went 2 bed @ 11:30 pm and couldn't fall asleep... But i found it weird cause i didn't feel any bit tired during the exam... maybe i felt a little wierd during first block.. had no idea what was happening haha, but then i settled.. did that same feeling happen for u guys during the first blocks?

idk.. i got a 240 on usmle rx 336 exam 5 days before the exam and got a 224 on UWorld assessement exam 4 days before the exam... so heres keeping our fingers crossed that we all pass our exam tommorrow

lol. I have to disagree. I thought micro questions were one of the meanest, although the subject is easy. Yes first block I was kinda nervous. Last block: BEAT!
Ur scores look good, u should get a good score hopefully. Overall, the exam was not that bad. I just keep thinking about those stupid mistakes. Dear god.
U guys will get ur scores tomorrow ... as for us, we must wait another 2 weeks. Good luck!

it is already evening of the 5th now in INdia.....and already daytime of 5th{ 3rd wednesday today } in U.S.A , philadelphia. Result not yet out.
I think we have to wait till next wednesday. Any one has a different opinion.?
guys getting tensed ....i just want to finish it off as soon as possible. The stress while giving the exam was nothing ...but now playing this waiting game for the result ......is much more stressfull....cannot do anything except pray to all the gods that come to mind....and trying to deviate my self from thinking about the result.....!!!! I hope this ends soon.
guys of 17 th dec test date.............i am really feeling a lot uneasy with this waiting game. i donot think we will be getting our report today {ie: 3rd wednesday }..........may be have to wait till next wednesday. reports are out only on wednesdays. i have been refreshing my mail browsers every five minutes for the past 6- 7 hours and i am tierd of this waiting in front the computer.
if any one gets theirs pls post it here .

i don't wanna be the bad guy....i don't think you will get your score today...this is what i know: from your exam date, get the very next wednesday; from this wednesday add 3 more weeks....on the third wednesday you will get an email with your score(for the dec. 17th: your next wednesday is dec. 22; from this date add 3 more weeks which equal january 12th....on this date you will probably get the results ussually after 8 am eastern time)....have fun until then
i did mine on the 27th so 29th (wed)
therefore my results will come out on the 19th of january hopefully

well..i wrote my exam on the 15th dec(which was a wednesday)....still havent got the result...and yes I too am refreshing my mail every 5 mins....hope everything works out well !

maybe next week. getting more tensed by the day . just praying to god all the time to help me get through this successfully.... i am not able to be at peace ....getting all kind of weird ideas and floating thoughts ,, maybe it is kind depression with mania.......ha ha . i have promised god a lot many things if i pass........i just hope god believes me .....becoz i usually never keep up my promises.............but this time i am damn sure i will keep up my promises, if not alll at least some of them.

Me too I actually think I didn't do that well now. Most of the answers I was guessing. Although exam was easier than nbme 7 but the questions were weird. I dunno. nbme scores, anyone?I heard results are usually similar or even the same.

yeahh, i feel the exact same way about the exam 2 :S... I have no idea howww i did and it just scares me.. these were my grades up 2 the exam...
USMLE exam was on dec. 17th
I completed my kaplan course approx 5.5 weeks before the exam
Day after kaplan (5.5 weeks away from exam) Took the Prometric practice exam (Fred V2 exam i think).. 70/70/92 = 77% correct answers
5 weeks from exam: Kaplan Comprehensive exam: 63% correct
4 weeks from exam: nbme 1 = 480 (218)
3 weeks from exam: nbme 2 = 470 (216)
2 weeks from exam: nbme 3 = 430 (207)... i scrwed up on questions i woulf of otherwise gotten right..
completed studying everything 8 days before exam through the first aid book while doing these assessements
7 days before exam: USMLErx 336 q exam = 73 % correct (240)
4 days before exam: UWorld assessement 1 = 520 (224)
2 days before exam: Epic Fail... do your self a favor and dont get 2 over confident and never look back at your block after each block you do.. it makes you stupid and i think you would do better if you just do all 4 blocks in a row that way your always in a tension mode which lets you think constantly... 430 (204).... lesson i learned, never ever get overconfident during the exam, and never get 2 stress.. stay in between soo you can see max performance.... so in insight, i think this exam was a fluke for me *hopefully, knock on wood*)
Through out the month before the exam, i did 192q usmle rx exams and usually scored between 216-224.. 63-67 percent correct..
sooooo idk, my usmle exam was a wierd one, but i do know that i got some of the tricky questions on the usmle that i recognized from my kaplan course... but im still worried none the less and hoping the UWorld assessement 1 exam was a close representation of my grade.. *knock on wood*
i kinda wished i wrote all the nbme exams, but idk, maybe 3 was all i needed. *knock on wood*

hey i have not done any of the things you said.
just did uw once and was ranging from 60 - 65% thats it.
my exam was all blind guessing the odd one or the correct one out.
well i flagged many questions per block 10-15 for recheck but could not go back , had no time .
was struck on some tough physiology and ct-scan and mri and electron micrograph of kidney tubules. really odd feeling .
during the exam i did not even hav time to think if tension or stress.
statistics was tough and needed a lot of time to think and finally marked them wrong ...but the ethics was really easy almost .
pharma and micro were straight forward direct ......but molecular biology and genetics on the experimetns with rats and guinea pigs was really tough....could only make blind guesses.
graphs from physio were tough and time consuming. just guessed them . only god knows if i guessed them rite.
there were a lot of short quetsions and one liners and two liners.
very little ones like paragraphs.
welll maybe on 12th of jan we will come to know . GOD please help me.

As i said i gave Step1 o Dec 17th, i am pretty sure to score a 99.
I have been kinda accepted into monthly clerkships by email at nice programs that i want, but to apply for them i need this score report.
So guys i'm really ****ed off by this waiting, i don't have much time, I'm only staying back here in India for 20 more days, and i have to get my applications signed by our dean, so are we sure we'll get our reports on 12th ??
OR is there a chance that they can be delayed till 19th

to chsi, i think i am about 80% sure that our marks will appear this coming wednesday, from what i have seen from other forums including this one, people who wrote there exam around the 5th-9th of december recieved there marks this last wednesday, so im figuring people who wrote 13th-17th to recieve theres this coming wednesday... and congrats on probably getting 99, thats a great achievement
to lolo, Yeah i did some half guessing also on my exam, but i think everyone is forced to eventually, though your UWorld mark is pretty good, getting that kind of average, people usually get 235-240 ranges.
my first time through UWorld, i ended off with a 59.. tho i was still going through the kaplan course when i was doing it, but i remember i got like around 75-80 percent of the pathology questions right... dr. barone is really a genius @ pathology. My first time through kaplan i got a 60%.. But i used usmle rx as my testing qbank before the usmle.. soo i ended off with an average of 67% (usmle rx said a score approximation of 227 was around my grade... dont know how true that is???)... soo ive done close to 10000 Questions... i hope it was enough to get a good grade and pass haha *knock on wood*
But i think you will do fine, my micro and pharm was really good on the exam also... anatomy is what im worried about.. biochem 2... i hate the epi graphs they showed and just biostats in general, only had 1 q on biostat, and yeah the molecular was a little evil i shall say.. i didn't get 2 many calculations but i remember i got tht genetic forumula one and couldn't do it, forgot how 2 haha, but i think i did good in genetics, nutrition, pharm, micro, maybe physio even though those arrow questions and picture questions are just plain evil... but i answered them the best i could, maybe pathology(cant remember any of the questions, i think the path questions were very very well hidden) *knock on wood*
I had alot of test tube/immunology kind of questions, they maybe expiremental q's tho.. they sure as hell seemed like it, but dont worry, every student who goes through this exam half guesses alot of the questions on the exam.. i garantee you every person who wrote the exam has done it.

thanks man , for your supporting and encouraging posts. i am really stressed out in this waiting period. a few days before the exam i did not have the time to feel the tension or stress becoz i was busy goign through the notes and fa and kaplan . during the exam tooo there was no tension becoz the mind is busy thinking of the questions and answers. but now during this waiting period , especially the one week before the result date is most painfull and serious one.
i am feeling the tension now.
what ever work i do daily , i only keep on getting the result sheet into my mind and how it would look PASS/FAIL ???
well i hope all of us get through with very good scores guys.
