My uWorld Scores compared to my PASSING NCLEX exam

3/4/2019 12:20:44 PM
I took my NCLEX on March 2nd, 2019, the exam shut off at 75 questions and today I found out I PASSED!

First I will explain my study method - scroll down for my uWorld scores and NCLEX experience!

I studied for 41 days, dividing up Qbank quizzes by each category, working systematically to finish all 2120 question in the Qbank.
Worked on approximately 100 questions a day, sometimes I would have 75, sometimes I would have over 100, all based on which topic I was doing for the day.
**I tried to complete all questions in each category WHILE LEAVING OUT APPROXIMATELY 10-20 QUESTIONS in each topic to do a series of self assessment quizzes at the end
I studied for 4-5 days each week since Dec.26, took off Saturdays and Sundays - went on 10 day vacation in Jan. (no studying)
I wrote down most rationales, and wrote specific topics on index cards that I thought I needed to focus more on
I also went back to my index cards from nursing school and picked out big topics I remembered from the uWorld questions - including shock, ENDOCRINE**, Erikson developmental, peds developmental

My quiz scores the first couple days:
66, 75, 78, 60, 52, 70, 53, 40, 70
Scores all quizzes ranging from 40-80%

1 week before my exam, finished the Qbank questions taking 65-75 question quizzes each day for 4 days - with all topics mixed in
Scores: 69, 70, 70, 62

MY Quiz score at the end of ALL 2120 Qbank
66.5% - 94th percentile rank

Average/median quiz score
54% - 48th percentile rank

Self assessment 1 (8 days before my NCLEX)
68% - 87th percentile - VERY HIGH chance of passing

Self assessment 2 (3 days before my NCLEX)
58.7% - 57th percentile - HIGH chance of passing

After finishing the self assessments, I went back and made quizzes containing questions I got INCORRECT - mixing up all topics
When I answered the questions, I used the thought process of uWorld to answer it with their rationale, helped me remember big topics.

Kaplan CAT exam
I bought KAPLAN Computer Adaptive Tests (CAT exams) and in between taking the uWorld self assessments, I did the CAT exams
3 exams came in the package for $129 (able to use a payment plan)
I bought these to SIMULATE THE TESTING ENVIRONMENT - not so much for studying and taking notes
This test mimics the NCLEX, ranges from 75-265 questions given and SHUTS OFF when it determines if you have reached passing level - JUST LIKE THE NCLEX!!!
I found it helpful to simulate the test because you need to be prepared to answer EACH QUESTION to the best of your ability until it physically shuts off at any given time.

CAT 1 - 2 weeks before my NCLEX - taken 1 week before my first uWorld Self Assessment
Shut off at 75 questions
35/75 correct
Overall Level: GREEN - "exceeds most expectations for performance"
Each smaller category: all YELLOW - "meets minimum expectations for performance"

CAT 2 - 1 week before my NCLEX
Shut off at 85 questions
46/85
Overall Level: GREEN - "exceeds most expectations for performance"
Each smaller category: all YELLOW - "meets minimum expectations for performance"

CAT 3
Taken 4 days before my NCLEX ****made sure to take the Self Assessment 2 on uWorld AFTER these CAT exams to refresh my uWorld skills****
Shut off at 75 questions
41/75
Overall Level: GREEN - "exceeds most expectations for performance"
Each smaller category: all YELLOW - "meets minimum expectations for performance"

MY NCLEX EXPERIENCE
Test taken at 8am
Number of Questions: 75 exact
Total amount of time taken: 1hr 30min for 75 questions
27 questions from 75 question total were SELECT ALL THAT APPLY - I remember I had 4 in a row at one point - MADE ME SUPER NERVOUS
1 drag and drop
1 math question

Today my NCLEX results: PASS
I can do it, and so can you! Any questions please reply!!

I got the Kaplan CAT after reading your post, I've only done one and I am on my second one... The first one I did not do very well. I am on my second one at 86 Q and I had to suspend and take a break due to the fact that I am so fatigued from taking questions.
I'm testing next Friday and I'm super nervous. I don't know if it means that I'm not ready or not but this isn't my first attempt at the NCLEX. Should I move my exam date? What should I do?

That's exaclty what I did. Uworld every question and mark kilmek and finished in 60 questions and passed. That's all you need. No need for excessiveness during this time.

Does Uworld rationales cover everything on the Nclex? Im not asking about Uworld and NCLEX giving the same questions, but with reading the rationales is that enough to cover on what the NCLEX will test us on?

I have gone through Uworld twice. First time i was ranked real low, now i am ranked 87th. I also scored a 78 on the second assessment i hope Uworld is right. But please let me know about the rationales. Thanks
