Step 3 before residency
Can someone please advice whether its possible/sensible to take Step 3 before residency?
Thank You
If you take it while you're fresh from medical school-you may be at an advantage, especially if you're going into a specialty that is not general medicine. I'm only 8 months out of medical school (and in an OBGYN residency) and I'm surprised by how many new guidelines and medicines have shown up during my review for Step III. Of course, on the other hand, you have to make sure you pass if you're not already in residency. If you're just waiting to start...definitely take it before if you can. It's not like you'll have a ton of time to study once you're a resident.
