answer please__ anyone
A 42 year old man needs a kidney allograft. lymphocytes are examined by the mixed lymphocyte reaction with killed stimulator cells from himself and from each of 5 prospective donors. A donor with which of the following thymidine incorporation values (cpm) will be most compatible? ( the patient has a cpm of 425/cpm)
A) 312
B) 1542
C) 2505
D) 15,389
E) 27,482
Will appreciate if anyone can answer this question and explain your answer. Thanks
thymidine incorporation value measures the rate of cell proliferation ...as thymidine is necessary for cell proliferation............ which means if more CPM more proliferation of cells - here these would be cells of donor ..... we certainly dont want donor cells to get proliferated n create hypersensitivity disorders...... so in grafts its always better to have d lowest CPM count
this Mixed Lymphocyte Reaction is a test for class II compatibility between donor and recipient........if the MHC class II r different proliferation will occur...so here they will kill most of d lymphocyte from donor ....to avoid proliferation
so the answer is : A
