hii docs ,,can anyone tell me if alveolar ventilation is same as minute alveolar ventilation ,,i have got differnt views frm various refrnces ...minute ventilation =tidal volume *rr ...........alveolar ventilation=[tidal vol - dead space vol]*rr,,,,,then wat shud we take fr minute alveolar ventillation

Minute Ventilation is defined as all the air that goes into the lung, even de air that is not being exchanged. Differs from alveolar ventilation in that here the air that is being taken into account is only the air that will be exchanged.

So...

Minute Ventilation = tidal volume x respiratory rate

Alveolar Ventilation = (tidal volume - anatomical dead space) x respiratory rate
