Hi,

Does anyone know how long ECFMG certification is valid for once you pass Step1, 2CK and 2CS? Is it indefinite or for 7 years?

Is there a time when one must pass step 3, ie within 7 years? or ar ECFMG certification and step 3 completely independent?

ECFMG Certificate is valid for indefinite time.
it has nothing to do with your step 3.
most imgs prefer to write step 3 before interviews or latest by january(before match result in march) to get H1 visa. american grads usually write step 3 after intern year.
